About Us

This is the on-line home of the off-line Elfquest based Role-playing Fan Holt. What does all this mean? To put it simply... this is the website for a fan club that role-plays by snail-mail using the Elfquest rules. And since the fan club is Elfquest based, the club is called a Holt.

For those of you that have no idea what Elfquest is... I can only say that you are truly missing a wonderful world that was created back in (about) 1975 by the creative husband and wife team of Richard and Wendy Pini. I don't want to label Elfquest by saying that it is a fantasy world...because that is just too limiting for what it was, is, and has become.

Perhaps if you would please go to www.elfquest.com, this is the official website, that should explain a lot of it. And if it doesn't explain everything, this will at least give you an idea of what our role-play is based on. The role-play mainly deals with the elves in Havenwood Holt and the World of Two Moons that they live in.

Havenwood is an open Holt, which means that anyone who wishes may join. It is snail mail based and the play turns do take a little longer than if you played via email... post office ships mail at a longer time than the instantanious moments of email... but that has an advantage. You get that time to think through all the possiblities of what your character does or how best to get your character out of any trouble that he/she has gotten into.

Snail mail based also means that post office mailing addresses are used. If you have questions about this or wish further information on joining Havenwood Holt, you can email the Havenwood Holt president and she should be able to help you...but then, that's what she says she's there for!

Club History

Established: around 1989

Revised: 1990

Correspondance: Email-havenwood@usa.net

Correspondance 2: Snailmail-Contact editor via email for this information!

Fanzine: The Howl (2000) Published ever three months(4 per year)

Gateways(1998) was published bi-monthly, now monthly (12 per year).

Misc. Publications: Havenwood Newsletters, Holt/Character Profile Guild, Major Scenarios, Role-playing rules and guidelines, Creation Packet.

Havenwood Holt's first fanzine was proposed, then temporarily shelved while the Holt underwent reorganization. The working title of the intra-Holt project, Sendings, was discovered to have been concurrently claimed already, and the name has been tentatively changed to The Howl. The first issue of The Howl was sent out in Jan.2000. We encourage any fan-art, fiction and the like to still be sent to the Game Editors. Also, in the new year we will hopefully be subscribing to one of our sister-fan publications, Sendings, an American based Elf-Fanzine run by Ariel Wulf. The Gateways continues to serve as our newsletter communicative link.

Game related:

The renegade Gliders & the Havenwood Wolfriders have joined forces to create a lasting peace between the Gret Valley's inhabitants- the Plainsrunners, the Mountaineers, a furtive group of Trolls (which are at odds [war]), and a small tribe of humans that are neutral to the elves.

Directly to the East of the Great Valley is a lush, fertile, and seemingly uninhabited larger valley, which tempts the weary tribe of wandering wolfriders. As a group, the Wolfriders can't reach the valley, due largle to impassible mountains, hostile mountaineers, trolls, bad weather & terrain.

Tael's exiled father, Ariu, is still missing, but rumors 'fly' of a planned searchand rescue in the works.

The Plainsrunners & Mountaineers will help the Wolfriders of Havenwood Holt explore the extensive forest past their Great Valley, in gratitude for their help in restoring their valley to peace & revealing the duplicity & treachery of Stonewart's Troll colony.
